Kundapura’s Ajith Dcosta Oman National cricket Team Manager

Kundapura: The lives of Indians who have made a living in the Gulf countries are not limited to work alone. Despite their hard work and struggles, they achieved success in sports and other fields, bringing glory to the Gulf nation that gave them life and to India, the country of their birth. Ajith D’Costa, a resident of Halaalive [ಹಳಅಳಿವೆ] in Kundapura, who is working in Oman, is currently working as the manager of the Oman national team competing in the ACC Under-19 Premier Cup championship being held in Dubai. It is a matter of pride for Indians, especially Kannadigas.

Ajith, who is working as a manager in the Oman Cricket Association, has good connections with different teams and players in the cricket world. Impressed by his efficient performance, Oman Cricket Association has appointed him as the manager of the Oman national team competing in the Under-19 Premier Cup Championship.

Speaking to sports mail from Dubai, Ajith D’Costa said, “This is a new experience in my professional life. I have been close to sports since childhood and I am handling this responsibility with great enthusiasm. Our team has performed well this time. Cricket here has not seen the professionalism as much as in India. But they are training in a good way. International coaches are working hard for the success of Oman cricket. It is special that young people of Indian origin are also playing in the team. I am eternally indebted to the Oman Cricket Association for giving me such a good responsibility.”

“Growing up in a small village like Halaalive [ಹಳಅಳಿವೆ] in Kundapura, I did not even have a field to play in my childhood. In such a situation, where could I dream of international cricket? “But God has blessed me with the opportunity to become the manager of a team in an international cricket championship. All this was possible with the blessings of my parents.  And I am thankful to Oman cricket Association Chairman His Excellency Pankaj Khimji and Honorary General Secretary Madhursinh Jesrani  and Thanks to everyone,” he said.
